D.C., N.Y. buildings evacuate as quake felt across East

There was a magnatude 5.9 earthquake centered in Virginia today at about 1:52 pm EST. The trembler was felt across several states including  NC, GA, PA, NY, and parts of Canada. Quakes on the eastern coast of the US is very rare and they have the potential to be strong. This one took everyone by surprise. When people think of eartquakes in the US, they usually think of California not Virginia! The damage turned out to be very light and any injuries minor or nonexistant to my knowledge at the time I wrote this post. Officials at the USGS says to “expect aftershocks over the next couple of days and maybe weeks”. click the link above to go to the source.
